Welcome to the reception celebrating the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Many of you have been the witness of China’s development achievements in the past 69 years, accomplished by the Chinese people under the guidance of the CPC. During the past 40 years, China’s GDP grew at an average annual rate of 9.5%, reaching a total of 12.3 trillion dollars in 2017. During the first half of 2018, China’s economy maintained a steady year on year growth rate of 6.8%. The economic structure continued optimizing with tangible progress being made towards high quality growth. However, it is in our knowledge that with a relatively low GDP per capita, China remains a developing country. There is still a long journey ahead.
The year 2018 also marks the 40th anniversary of the Reform and Opening-up Policy. The practices of implementing reform and opening-up have proved that China’s development cannot be achieved without the world while the world needs China as well. Therefore, China remains committed to further deepening reform and opening-up, remains committed to pursuing development through opening-up, and remains committed to building a community of shared destiny with international society.

During the past three years, China-Saudi relations have been promoted to a new level with our comprehensive strategic partnership yielding more and more concrete outcomes. President Xi and King Salman visited each other. The China-Saudi High Level Joint Committee functions smoothly. Our two countries are currently making joint efforts to dovetail national development strategies, namely, the Belt and Road Initiative and Vision 2030. Cooperation in various dimensions, including energy, industrial park, housing, investment, culture, education, science and technology, are on their way. More and more Chinese enterprises are investing in Saudi Arabia, devoting themselves, along with their technologies and experiences, to the implementation of Vision 2030. The future for our bilateral cooperation is promising.

Please allow me to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the support extended by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed to the development of China-Saudi relations, for the great efforts made by the Saudi government and its people in our bilateral cooperation, for the assistance offered by the Riyadh Region, in particular, by the Governor, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abulaziz Al Saud, and his Deputy, to the embassy. Let’s make joint efforts to a better future of China-Saudi friendship and cooperation.
Last but not least, may our comprehensive strategic partnership move forward. May our cooperation benefit two peoples, as well as contribute to the peace and prosperity of the region and beyond.
